Origami paper comes in many different sizes, shapes and types. They are generally square in shape, though you can find them being round or even triangular. The most common type of origami paper is the the colored ones, which has one side colored and the other side white. This type of paper can in most convenience stores or even online shops.
Duo paper: has one color on the top, and another color on the bottom. This type of paper is great for models where you intend to display different colors in one shape. An example like the strawberry origami to the left, can be seen as an effective usage of duo paper.
Foil paper: has a metallic side and a paper side on the other. This paper is great for holding shapes, creating a more robust and permanent origami shape. However mistakes made during folding foil paper can be permanent, leaving no room for mistakes. Recommended for more advanced users.
Washi paper: Washi paper a textured paper and has a more soft side compared to ordinary photo copy paper. Washi can be bought in specialty origami stores.
Circular Origami Paper: There are very few sources of circular origami paper because there are relatively few diagrams starting with a circle. However, circular paper is often used in kirigami.
Animal print origami paper: are more targeted and used by children. However one must be careful when folding the papers, since they can look rather disappointing when fully folded into a model compared to it’s unfolded condition.
